It’s the tenth Day of NaNoWriMo, and the time has finally come. If any of you have been wondering and waiting to see what the novel that Lizzy and I are writing is about, I’m about to reveal it for the first time. The truth is, there are only a few people who I told about the plot. All of them were either family or very close friends (you know who you are…as I told you). I don’t know if Lizzy has shared it with anyone, but she lives in Florida, so it doesn’t really matter. I chose to keep it to myself for the time being.
When Lizzy and I decided to do a NaNo book together, we spent a few months coming up with an idea, then we chose something, and spent a few other months fleshing out the two main characters. The only preparation that we did for our co-authored project was literally the very basic plot, who the two protagonists are, and some cultural research. Everything else is being written in the story as we go, and so far, it’s pretty cool. Both Lizzy and I are happy with it.
So now, for the first time revealed to the world, is the plot for The Pharaoh:
She’s an Oracle. He’s a Pharaoh.
She is a priestess. He is a god.
She’s is a beauty who desires nothing more than to live for the gods. He is a monster of a man vexed by disturbing dreams.
She is his key to unlocking the meaning of the dreams.
Set in ancient Egypt, The Pharaoh is retelling of the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast. It will warm the heart and show that no matter how a person seems to be on the outside, there is something else on the inside waiting to be seen.
There you have it, folks. The plot for our NaNo project. Mind you that it’s not the same as the classic Disney tale. But rather a retelling. The elements are there, but it’s a new story. Tomorrow, I will give some details about the characters and how Lizzy and I came to create them the way they are.

That’s right! Ain’t nothin’ in Florida but the elderly and gators! And neither of them like good fiction (Well, the elderly do only if it’s in a Readers Digest: Large Print Version).

Mike, did you see the picture I put of Florida? I linked it. I found it fitting for the picture. And that’s not true about old people. They ALSO like books about Matlock and the war(s). OH, and JAG. They like JAG as well.
As for Disney suing me, I already got the cease and desist letter from them. I don’t know how they found out so quickly. I mean, I’s not even DONE yet! But gosh darnit, if “Beastly” can be published, so can “The Pharaoh”!

LOL! Very true! As of right now, Lumière is not in the story. Fail on our part. However, what I didn’t mention that it’s based on Beauty and the Beast, but in reverse. I’ll explain it all later. So be on the lookout for it. Thanks for commenting!
Cool story.
The process is fascinating. I love / hate it when a character gets a mind of his own and steers the story in a whole new direction… not that I am speak from any specific experience of, say, November 2009, when a lawyer just stepped in from the blue out of the past of my main character and swept her off her feet completely changing a main story line and making me just have to go with it. I wouldn’t be referring to that. :)

Wow, completely changed your story, huh?! That’s crazy! I think for something like NaNo, you kind of have to go with the flow, or get left behind. And it’s not good for the author to be left behind.
